This listing (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120129629873&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:12) for a Schneider 47mm Super Angulon f5.6 looked like a great deal to me.
For the sake of my newbie education...can someone tell me why it went for that price?

Why ? It's a medium format lens with that image circle. But the prices on Ebay are a function of the Ebay market.

The 47mm Super-Angulon XL is the version that covers 4x5, 166mm image circle. I have seen a couple go for $1000.

I'm familiar with market economics...I was just wondering if there was something wrong that I, in my ignorance of these lenses, could not see.

So, unless there is something more wrong with this than a slow shutter, this looks like it was a great deal.

Thanks

Its a single coated 47/5.6 SA; they typically go for less than later multicoated 47/5.6 SAs. And the shutter needs a CLA. In my experience nearly all shutters need a CLA on arrival.

FWIW, not the lowest price ever for a single coated 47/5.6 SA, mine cost less. But then it was in an obscure military camera, not identified by the seller as an SA, and in a #00 Prontor Press to boot. Great lens on 2x3.

There's no accounting for auction prices.

Ahhhh, ok. Good deal, not great deal then.

Thanks. I'm trying to educate myself and learn how to read these things. I did not notice the SC thing.

and it's not the SA XL , thus, as Nick and Dan also point out, pretty much a MF lens.
