Hi all, anyone know if the "De Vere 250watt Transformer for 203 Multigrade Head"
would be compatible with my De Vere 504/ Dichromat head/250 watt lamp?.
The transformer im using now is the "De Vere 504 Trans-stab".... Both transformers look the same and have the same 8 pin sockets. There just isnt any mention of the wattage on my "De Vere 504 Trans-stab"........Electrical stuff just aint my bag!
It would make a good backup if its a go'er!
Thanks in advance for any light on this!
Cheers

250 watts = 250 watts. The only question would be whether the pin outs are exactly right. The best souce on this would be DeVere.

Thanks for that Brian. I believe the sockets are identical but worth a double check!

You might want to try emailing Odessey in the UK. They'll know for sure.

The De Vere 250W Transformer probably has a square head connector. I expect your 250W Transtab has a round head connector? The round connectors are the later type.

I expect you could get the transformer to work but you would need to fit a square connector or make an adapter?

ps I am not talking about the timer connector

Barry........ The 250transformer has a rectangular 8 pin socket for the enlarger head connection and a circular 8 pin socket for the DeVere timer...... according to its description.....so its the same as my transtab! Can I take from your reply that your confirming that my Transtab is indeed 250watts?
Ps My obsession with the silver image was elavated to a higher place within seconds of opening 'Recollections'....inpirational....a must see!

Nick,

From what you are saying it appears that the Transtab was made with both the rectangular and round head connectors. Sorry I was not aware of that, mine is round. Anyway it seems that Odyssey have answered your question, that's great.

From what I understand - the 250v version is for a single lamp setup - where the 500 is for 2.... any confirmation?

That is correct. The 250W is for a single 24V Lamp. The 500W is for two 24V Lamps. I believe these two lamps are wired in series and the power supply provides 48V. If one lamp fails, both go out.
