I have a great (but old) Benbo tripod, but want to mount my Cambo rail camera on this - any suggestions for a good but affordable tripod head to use ???

Thanks
Alan

Either a Gitzo R3 or a Bogen 3047 will work great. Unless you prefer ball heads. In which case, my boss might work pretty well.

I have two original Benbo tripods, the baby with extending legs and what is now called the Mk1.

With both I have the original Benbo 2" ball head, I can quite easily use my early sixties 4x5 Calumet monorail on this.

The later Benbo ball heads are not able to easily hold and will slip. I'm not entirely sure but I think it's the non-slip material that the ball is covered with that is the problem. The original Benbo ball heads are all exposed metal (alloy?) and grip like Tarzan's Grip glue.

I also have a manfrotto 056 head which is small and sits on the Benbo(s) easily.

Mick.
