I have a Deardorff 8x10 and would like to add a Nikkor 120mm SW to my arsenal. Coverage seems to be adequate, but it looks like I will need to use a recessed lensboard. Anyone have any experience with this camera/lens combo?

Not the lens / camera combo, but I do use my Nikkor 120mm on my 8x10 Canham with excellent results as far as coverage. On the Canham, I don't need a recessed board. Can't speak whether the Deardorff does.

It isn't like a camera with a bag bellows but you can get it close enough to focus without the recessed lensboard.

At infinity you will not have much movement. It is a great lens on 5x7.

B&H has them at a good price.

I was able to use a 159mm lens on my Deardorff without a recessed board and with plenty of room for movements.

I have used a 120mm on my Deardorff.
You do not need a recessed board. It actually is possible to close the camera to the point that the rear of the lens almost touches the GG. Rise and fall will be no problem, but swings and tilts are bellows limited.

I have tried a 130mm lens with my Deardorff and realized a 150mm lens worked better.
