I know everyone wants one of these and I just saw this one that was mislabled. I copied a photo to show it.

Good luck. I have just started using mine recently and it is very handy.

I first saw one of those in the late 1960's and it was old then! I managed to find one a few years ago and mounted it to a Cambo board for when I wanted to try odd lenses...it works fine! It is nice if the lens you're using has a flange to tighten from the rear; it will hold a lens without a flange, but not as securly. I haven't mounted a Packard shutter on mine, but that's also a popular method of using these diaphram mounts.

That link doesn't work, at least for me. Can you provide some more info so we can find the auction? Thanks, Richard

It also does not hold lenses as parallel as a properly cut lens board.

No but it is just about the best "cheap and cheerful" way to mount scads of old brass lenses you may want to play with, but not commit a custom cut lensboard to.

*ahem* my packard mod.. :D

That's the best method I've found. you literally bolt the lens to one panel. Cheap and cheerful. It's soft ply rubbish too, so only costs a few quid for about 10 boards. All you need is a jig and a drill.

I think all my lenses and the shutter total to less than an Iris mount costs.

Okay, so now I can't steal it. Somebody probably needs it more than I do anyway. (Sigh).

Ebay is a bunch of lions (bargain-hunters) chasing a small number of gazelles (bargains). Somebody who helps the gazelle get away is going to find himself very unpopular with the lions. :)

If something on eBay is unusually interesting, tell us about it after the auction has closed!

You'd better hold their hands and show them how to bid, too, Frank. Let's make sure that there are a thousand bids.

You can't steal it, but anything under $150 is a good deal for the iris lens mount.

That's good enough for me. Sorry I was rude, Frank.

I sent this seller (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220101741842&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:us) an email informing him that this is actually a device for stove pipe to pass through the ceiling and it should be re-listed in house wares.

I never expected the lions to pick up torches and pitchforks! :) :) :)

I just won one a few minutes ago (insert celebrational howls here) - so you guys are safe for the other ones now :D

95quid aren't bad at all (needs a new looking screw, but that's a 5$ job from the hardware store :) ).

Chris

PS: on second thought - maybe, just maybe I could need another one ...

Wow. I have a buddy who has one of these. We could never figure out what it was for (we could never dream up a lens big enough to need an aperture diaphragm that size! :p ) Might have to mount it to a lens board, and find some old lenses to give that bugger a workout!
