When I acquired the Linhof Tech III Model 5, the baseplate was broken. That is the plate that slides on the rails, and mounts the front lens standard. I manufactured one in my hobby shop. It works, but is not perfect. So, I wonder if such an original item could be found in some "scrap heap." ...or maybe a junk Tech III could be found with that plate intact. I realize this is a long shot request, since the cameras are really sturdy, and should last a lifetime.
My other idea would be to replace the rails and front standard with parts from a later model. My being retired and on a budget can make this entire request impractical.
Meanwhile, I use the camera as it is. E-mail to jfisher (at) plateautel (dot) net.
