When printing with Advanced B&W on a 4800, should I have it set up so Photoshop controls the color management or let the printer control it?

Does it make a difference whether or not I have converted to grayscale after using channel mixer to convert an adobeRGB file to B&W?

Any other setting recommendations to optimize the results?

Any input is much appreciated.

If you are using ABW, you need to have it "ON" in the printer driver and then turn Photoshop's CM off, or "let printer determine colors".

FWIW, I don't bother with ABW and simply use my regular color profiles and get dead neutral grayscale, but my regular profiles are custom and thus probably better than the canned Epson profiles. the big advantage here is I get normal WYSIWYG B&W just like when printing color and don't have to "interpret" how the ABW tone and darkness settings affecting the standard Epson image will affect my real image.

Cheers,
