I want to do cityscapes which even my 75 mm lens won't accomodate, so I decided to try panormaic photography. I ordered a Jasper Engineering Pano Head 3, which just arrived, and I think it will be perfect for what I want to do. It can hold up to 5-6 lbs which is more than adequate for my Toho FC-45X with lens. It is also quite simple to use. I've attached a first try, which I made using my Nikon D70. I took three exposures indoors using flash, which created some illumination problems, and I did the stitching with Hugein, a Panorama Tools interface. The result is hardly perfect, but I think it is pretty good for a first try. On the basis of my experience so far, I can highly recommend the Pano Head 3. Have you tried doing by just shift? I have done some nice 2-part panos by shifting a standard the whole way one direction, exposing a sheet, then shifting it the whole way the other way and exposing another.

Interesting thought, Chris, thanks. May give that a try myself.

If I get a chance, I'll scan one. I frame it such that it's a nice diptych if I contact print them or a nice pano if scanned and stitched.
