I've got a big packard shutter with the appropriate poles for flash sync, but when I fire the shutter, it doesn't trip my flash. Is anyone here familiar enough with these monsters to help diagnose the connection issue?

It's a very simple system. Open the Packard and watch the contacts as you trip the shutter. Perhaps the contacts are dirty or mis-adjusted. Polish the contacts and connections, and check that the contacts touch when the shutter trips. It's really very simple.

It's even better if you use your tongue on the contacts when you trip the shutter.
