Just got one of these - was wondering about placing a uv filter on the front ring in order to protect the diaphram which is exposed since the there's no front element.
Suggestions? Size?

You can purchase one of these adapter rings from sk grimes.

I just make sure the lens caps are on when when not in use. I dont use any UV filters to protect lenses, just treat them with respect.

The threads on the front are series 9.

I bought my 305mm Portrait lens from the late John Kausch, a portratist from Birmingham MI. He did a very clever thing by attaching a series 9 gel filter holder to the front and then sliding a 4x4 piece of foam core in the holder to protect the shutter/lens when not in use. I still use it that way and by doing so, can also use a bunch of gel filters I got from him as well. Just another approach
