Win XP Pro, Photoshop CS: Print with Preview has disappeared and I cannot get it back. I was getting errors just prior to its disappearance. I have reinstalled CS three times, and on the third time did a full uninstall (including prefs.). I rebooted each time. CTRL ALT P and selecting Print with Preview from the File menu produce no results. It's nowhere to be found, and everything else appears to be fine.

Please help! Thank you in advance

Michael are you letting the printer choose the colors? or are you letting Photoshop choose the colors? There is a couple of threads on P-net about this type of problem....

Sounds like you might have a conflict in your color profiling. I just did a quick search on google and it popped those two up, it may help...

That's not the issue at all, Dave. My printer prefs are set up correctly as they always have been, and my Photoshop CS has always been fine until now. Print with Preview is simply gone.

I don't know which version you have CS, CS2?, or if this is surely it, but here are some additional things to look at (no promises) -

If you go to the workspace menu and reset it to default, perhaps that would do. Also, you could check the workspace ->keyboard shortcuts and menus to see if "Print with Preview" is visible. And of course, perhaps try the Reset Menus choice there.

I wish those had helped, Ed. Thanks for trying.

This may be too simple, but are you usinig CS3? If so, "print with preview" was abandoned in CS3 as "Print" became a fully color-managed printing option -- and of course "Print" is just CTRL+P.

Just CS, Jack. Thanks.

Is the dialog absent or just grayed out if you use the dropdown -- File>Print With Preview -- ?

It's there and selectable, Jack, but doing so produces nothing. I think I just get a quick cursor flash, but nothing else. Thank you.

What printer is showing set as your default in Win, then what printer are you ultimately wanting to print to?

I have reinstalled CS three times, and on the third time did a full uninstall (including prefs.). I rebooted each time.

As a software engineer, I can tell you that it is not uncommon for the uninstall process to leave behind certain artifacts, which are invisible to ordinary search methods. This is true, even for big-name vendors like Adobe.

Unless you are comfortable playing with your machine, at the level of the Windows Registry and beyond, I suggest that you contact Adobe customer support.

Windows Registry aside, it is not uncommon for software to create hidden files, or files with obscure names, some of which may be in binary format. This helps protect them from software piracy, but can create big problems when we try to *really* uninstall things.

You might get some help with a Windows "cleaner" program - but then again you might not. Your best bet is Adobe.

Jack: printer default is HP Designjet 130, and that's what I want to print to. Thanks for your help. Everything has been fine for a long while until now, so this isn't the result of any changes that I've made. This is the result of a PS program error of some sort.
