If you photograph an animal on the endangered species list should you use an ext inction meter?

Absolutely, it's a must! Incident meters won't work, simply because the incidence of meeting a specimen are far too low.

Yes, and an enhancing filter on the lens.

It seems a worthy undertaking to me, Brian. The ability to make many copies in the darkroom would be a blessing!

You should also be absolutely certain to take the picture, and not shoot it! If you can get it into mass reproduction, so much the better.
