I recently bought an Ohaus 700/800 for mixing darkroom chemistry. It seems pretty straightforward, but using US coins as mass standards http://www.usmint.gov/about_the_mint/index.cfm?flash=yes&action=coin_specifications it seems to mass a little light. Are coins a reliable mass standard? If it's repeatable do I care? And how critical are the ratios when mixing developers (specifically Pyrocat-HD and Micheal's Amidol)?

Harbor Freight tools used to sell a small balance scale with a set of gram weights. You might try checking their website.

Any gun shop should have standards in grains as well as grams....it is important to know if your scale is accurate and precise when you reload.. :)
