I need a large hard carrying case with a handle that could be used to carry mounted prints in checked luggage on airplanes. The box would need to be a minimum of 21"X29". I would greatly appreciate information as to possible sources for this kind of case, especially if there might be anything availble locally in the commerce.

You could try Dick Blick Art Supplies (http://www.dickblick.com/categories/transport/). I once got a huge briefcase style hard case just for the purpose of carrying large prints and illustrations. They are not that cheap, but provide good protection of the contents.

Large, black, hinged, stiff cardboard portfolio boxes are the way to go for many of us that need to transport matted prints.

I have some large porfolio boxes that are very well made and protect the prints fine during transporation in the car. And I have a large leather carrying case with handle that I will place the portfolio box in if necessary. However, I am concerned that this may not provide full protection for checked luggage.

There is a nice TransPort case, 24.5X3.025X4" from Light Impressions that would be perfect for my needs, but they are out of stock and I need the case yesterday (or at least by next Tuesday!). I already have two of these type cases in smaller size but they are too small for the matted prints that I need to transport now.

Dick Blick sounded like a good bet, but the customer service and product information offices are closed today due to inclement weather. What is going on with this weather thing? It is over 75º F with lot of sun today here in South Carolina.
