I got to hang out with, and assist for him in the first part of this decade and he ended up being a friend. He was a pretty good photographer, I thought. First opened up the possibilties of photography for me. Anyways...

I like his portrait work on his website; especially the portrait of Leonard Cohen.

Wow, thanks. For two reasons. One his work, especially his portraits show rules in photography are what you make and not follow. Vision always wins. Two, I just turned 57 earlier this month (Labor Day, literally). Now retired from one career, I'd better get my head out of my proverbial and motor myself and camera down the road. Passion always wins. Many thanks.

I am greatly saddened to hear that James Fee has died. I considered him one of the best living photographers--I'm focused mostly on his fine art projects, not so much his portraits.

His work is greatly underappreciated.
