Does anyone know of a geared head (apart from the very expensive Arca C1/Cube) that will take Arca Swiss mounting plates? I am currently using a Manfrotto 410 geared head which I like very much but would like to use an Arca mounting plate on my Technikardan as I find them both earier to use and more stable.

Add what you need to the Manfrotto 410

I have a 410 with a RRS female clamp permanently mounted and replacing the goofy Bogen QR.

G. Dennis Halkides sold it to me, he does nice work but I don't know if he will do any more modifcations, but you might ask: http://www.awwwsome.com/halkides-morgan/Index.htm

I have a 410 with a Kirk enterprises Arca clamp mounted on it.

Many thanks to you both for the suggestions. I already have an RRS quick release clamp but have never found it satisfactory on top of the 410 quick release plate, however I didn't know that Kirk made a dedicated plate/clamp for this purpose. I have therefore ordered one to try out. If it works, great, if not then I'll start saving for the Cube.

If you have an RRS lever lock clamp, that's probably the problem. A screw locking clamp is much stronger. I quite like the Wimberley long clamp (C-30 if I remember correctly). Kirk clamps are also quite good, and they come in a wide range of sizes. I have a small one that I use on flash brackets and such.
