Hello! Vendors seem to be out of the 4990. Is this scanner being phased out by Epson? Best regards.

The 4990 is NOT being discontinued. The 4990 Pro (software package is only difference) IS being discontinued.

The 4990 is NOT being discontinued.

Not sure why you are so adamant about this. They are indeed in very short supply at most vendors.

Hello! Sounds like it is time to pick up a 4990 Pro, since Epson will be fazing out the bundled software.

Even Epson's website states they are out of the 4990.

With the introduction of teh V7xx series, is there any indication that Epson will phase out production of the 4990 in the term? If so, that would be a reason to consider the V7xx series for parts and service. Best regards.

Sorry Doug, just pointing out that, according to my conversations with Epson a few weeks ago, the 4990 will rmain in the line. That said, Epson could easily have changed their mind or the 4990 coul be in short supply because more folk want them thean the more expensive V700.

Hello! I called Epson, and the sales person said that she anticipated stocks of the 4990 beng available within the next several weeks. She didn't have any information that it was being discontinued, though she did say that no announcement was made with th ePro version was discontinued. Best regards.
