Kodak 2D date code?

A search of Google and this site turned up not much on the above subject.

Is the serial number on the rear standard related to the manufacturing date?

I have one with #189899 and another #442899.

Silly request I know, but I'm curious if there is a system.

Mine's 442998, so it must be a cousin of your youngest, but I've got the same question you do. Have you found any leads yet?

According to the list I cited over there, 189899 was made between 1932 and 1937 and 442899 and 442998 both date from 1946-1948.
