I had no idea that such things existed, but here's one: http://cgi.ebay.fr/Chambre-13-18-Studioflex_W0QQitemZ160019177271QQihZ006QQcategoryZ79343QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The seller, with whom I'm not acquainted, has another one on a studio stand.

Cheers,

Dan

I thought you meant a Gowland.

Nope, whatever the Studioflex is, it ain't a Gowland. And I didn't think that Peter made 5x7 TLRs. 8x10, yes. 4x5, yes. But I found no mention of a 5x7 TLR on his site. This isn't to say that he wouldn't make a one-off if asked or that I'm the best searcher.

Cheers,

Dan

I think on one of the pages they mention converting 4x5s into 5x7s. I'll see if I can find it.

There have been others. One American camera, whose name I can't at the moment remember, had an outer shape like a racetrack. It must have been the heaviest 5X7 ever.

About 1900, several makers, mostly English, offered big TLR's, but they must have had few takers, since they are the rarest of the rare today/

Bottom of the page. The 4x5 doesn't seem to weigh more then a RZ67 -)

Dan -

In April, there was a TLR camera offered on US eBay that was identified as a 5x7, an industrial grade-looking thing with a 210mm Raptar taking lens and a label that said "MAC VAN MG. CO., SAN DIEGO". From the pictures of the camera back and the viewing screen, it looked as though that particular sample may have been modified to be 4x5 rather than 5x7. The only other information I was able to find was this (http://medfmt.8k.com/mf/macvan.html).

Oren, thank you. Mac Van is the name I was trying to remember.

There's a picture on this page (http://www.petergowland.com/Calendar1.html) showing Peter photographing Raquel Welch with a 5x7 Gowlandflex.

Alastair Thain has a custom-build that looks very like this, only it's 11x14.

For whoever's curious about the Mac Van, one just sold on eBay - have a good look before the listing scrolls off:

What a beast. 23 lbs! What kind of roll film does that thing take?
