On the remote chance that any of you might be in the region and/or interested to travel to this, I'd like to announce a fotocommunity user meeting (http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/calendar/display/5417) I am organizing with the theme "Large format photography in Thuringia in autumn". It's on October 14th at 10:00 in Eisenach, Germany.
The fotocommunity is a flickr kind of website for photo sharing that has a large membership in Germany.
For those who don't read German so well, here's a rough translation of the event's announcement from the link above:
Interested participants shouls already be using a large format camera, this is not to be an introductory workshop for DSLR users. This may sound like bragging about film size, but the reason is that there is quite a learning curve with large format, plus the time needed for one exposure is so different that DSLR users would be left standing around bored most of the time.
(This has been modified by me in the comments to the announcement because a lot of medium format and DSLR users showed interest. Didn't want to be a format nazi, now did I?)
There are no charges levied, everyone brings his own film.
We want to meet at 10:00 hours in front of the Bach-Haus in Eisenach and will hike to the Drachenschlucht (about 3 km, 2 miles). There we will photograph amongst cliffs, waterfalls and autumn foliage. Then we will hike up to the Wartburg (about 6 km, 4 miles), architecture and history of the location will inspire us. The day is to end in a pub in Eisenach.
Your interest would be very much appreciated. Say so if I can give you any further information.
Christoph
