What happened to the planned 10-14 day long exposure? It shrank to 35 min?

Perhaps they switched to the new, digitally-remastered emulsion, so there was no reciprocity error?

No... nothing to do with digital at all! They just decided to go with a "gumball sized" opening instead of a small nail-sized head opening.

And, on a bright sunny day! :)
