Horseman lenses have Seiko shutters. How are these shutters rated? If they need repair, are they unrepairable since they are no longer made? Is there a direct r eplacement available in the Copal variety? Why is there little or no information concerning these little known shutters?

Seiko shutters arent that rare, and seem as reliable as any. (Are they still being made?). Contact Steve Grimes about replacements at http://www.skgrimes.com/

Older Fujinon lenses were also mounted in Seiko shutters. I have used several and had no problems... but I guess watches proved more profitable than LF shutters.

Seiko's are decent shutters. They are the Japanese copy of the Compurs and Syncro-Compurs. They are well made and not that bad to work on. Any repairman that knows Compurs likely also knows Seiko's or will be able to find his way around one with no trouble.
