I had found an inexpensive product that solved my red safelighting issue: an 18" long aluminum channel bar with LEDS installed behind a diffuser that I can bounce off the ceiling and have soft, even light.

The previous post is here:

I just called the company to see if they might have a (non-listed) amber version of the same configuration. Nope. As far as a DIY, I could get aluminum channel and strip lights, but the latter come in 16-ft lengths and would be more than $60. I would need about 16 inches, if I were to make two 8"-long bars, which would be adequate for my needs (see post).

Although I'm not unhappy with my two amber mini-globes in bullet enclosures, I just wonder if any else has ideas, or knows of sources, for mimicking the bar light with shorter LED strips. I realize that one can cut the strips; I'm just not going to spend $90-100 (incl. shipping) on a lot of material I don't need.

My reply here was TLDR, killed this thread. Edited for two second attention spans: amber LEDs don’t work. They’re a combination of green and red. The green fogs paper. Personal experience. You’ll be sad using it. Just use red LEDs. No filtration needed, works great.
