Who is still providing service for lens recoating in the US

This is the only lens recoating service I know of (no experience with them) in the US, but I think there may be others.

Of course, this is for the cinema industry, so the cost is going to be HUGE.

All you can do is inquire, but from what I have heard, you can buy the lens several times over for the cost of recoating...

I wonder whether a full-service optometrist shop could do it, and wherther eyeglass coatings would be compatible.

Many, many years ago I took the elements out of an uncoated 16.5 inch Artar into the Essilor service bureau in Calgary, Canada. They supplied the optometrist industry. After some discussion at the counter about the glass properties, they applied beautiful multi-coatings. It is unlikely they would have done this if I hadn't encountered one of the senior technicians at the counter, who was interested in optics generally and willing to take on a challenge. However, it is always worth asking.
