...since my drum scanner is in for repair, I went ahead and recalibrated focus on my Epson V850 using a modified version of the Better Scanning wet mount holder. Adjusting screws are 3.16 x 100tpi. Final focus was achieved at 0.075 inch above starting point (holder directly on scan glass. Once focus achieved, I used my surface plate and dial indicator of .0001 in and my super sensitive bubble level to ensure anr glass is perfectly level with no one side higher than the other.
I made a scan at 3200dpi to start, then each successive adjustment was scanned at 6400 dpi with a 2x2 bin to 3200dpi. Final scans were made at 6000dpi, 6000 with 2x2 bin and at 3000dpi to confirm the focus.
