I am still trying/comparing developers for Aviphot 200 aerial film.
Was considering some 2-baths developments, and while looking for options in the list at Massive Dev Chart, I saw for the first time a "Jean Page" 2-bath (or 1-bath modified into another...):
https://www.digitaltruth.com/data/formula.php?FormulaID=178

well well well, Jean Fage, the founder of Musée de la Photographie in Bièvres outside Paris:
http://www.asso-photo-bievres.com/50-ans/
I still have to send them a question, but I was busy tinkering with developments.
I don't remember Fage name associated with any formula in the french literature I have: Clerc, Cuisinier, Prioleaud, and no, I don't have the last Glafkides.

Anyway, and for 500ml each solution:

part A:
Metol 7.5 g
Sodium Sulfite (anhydrous) 45 g

part B:
Phenidone 0.5 g
Hydroquinone 7.5 g
Sodium Sulfite (anhydrous) 37.5 g
Potassium Carbonate (anhydrous) 15 g

development at 23C, dilute 1+19 each part. Do first part A, then pour part A into the recipient containing part B, and this mix is the 2nd bath to pour again in the tray or tank.

I don't have phenidone in my shelf and will have to wait one or two weeks in order to get some. Didn't want to wait, decided to keep the idea with substitutions of what I have.

phenidone replaced with pyrocatechine
which means no hydroquinone. I am not after the staining effet of pyrocatechine here, which is not possible anyway because the proportion of sodium sulfite in A, only the development properties, and not being sure is hydroquinone doesn't go along with pyrocatechine even if no staining desired, I replaces hydroquinone with ascorbic acid.
There is a substitution ratio to apply, I have a source somewhere in docs: 1,6x, and at the same time amount of potassium carbonate must be corrected too 1,6x.
Because I use ascorbic acid, I took the risk that its proportion here is enough for conservation, so I ditched the sodium sulfite of part B.

so my part B became:
pyrocatechine 1 g (I decided, but no rationale for it, that 0,5 would not be enough ...)
ascorbic acid 12 g
potassium carbonate 24 g

ph was 11,86/11,89, which I think is enough for pyrocatechine to work.

Development of the following images was done in a tank. The point of the 2nd bath being part A + part B, is that it is twice the volume. For a single sheet 4x5 I use a custom tank of 600ml volume. In this case I opted for 300ml part A, so half tank, and so continuous rolling of the tank. Then after I pour the content into a jug where I mix it with 300ml part B, I have a full 600ml tank and then I do regular agitation 1mn then 5s every minute

1st try, I cut a piece a 4x5 Aviphot 200, I did 6mn part A, 6 mn A+B. There is some fog and a it's a bit flat:

so added potassium bromide 1 g, and 9g of pyrocatechine. Part B became:

pyrocatechol 10 g
ascorbic acid 12 g
potassium carbonate 24 g
potassium bromide 1 g

then another piece of Aviphot 200 4x5:

better. Now I took few sheets 4x5 of Fomapan-100.

first, for reference, one developed in HC-110 dilution 1+63 10mn:

then this modded Fage, 5mn 1st bath, 5mn 2nd bath. (there's a glitch in the foreground caused by an insert inside the thank, I fixed this for next developments)

next, 5mn 1st bath, 10 mn 2nd bath, and I didn't see much difference with 5mn+5mn:

at which time I had one sheet left, and regretted not having taken more shot, in order to see what gives only 1st bath, only 2nd bath, and different lengths of 1st then 2th.
I decided to jump to a significant modification, I diluted 1+9 each part instead of 1+19, with 5mn 1st bath, 10mn 2nd bath. So double amount of chemical (from previous image).
Now it´s something else.

part B has begun to oxydize (yellowish), and I don't know the chemical maths of preservation with the ratio of ascorbic acid used when no sodium sulfite. Nor the time needed for pyrocatechol to work, nor even if in this mixture it works at all, maybe just ascorbic acid does....
