Hi folks,
I have an old Zeiss Tessar 150 mm f4.5 lens in a Deckel Compur shutter and I can’t seem to determine the age.
It is not coated and is in excellent condition. I have looked in the Arne Croell article from 2003 and 2014 and the number (2424529) is not listed in the tables so I was wondering if anyone has some other recommendations for a source with more information. ?
Thanks. Conrad

Hey Conrad
Try Dating it with the shutter serial # & that may get you close particularly if it was factory mounted. I know there was an unofficial Dekel Compur serial #'s list somewhere on the net. I'll check around a little later and report back with a link if I relocate it.

So says Prochnow, too.

The list at https://vintagelens.nl/2018/10/05/3755/ also agrees with 1938.

Hartmut Thiele's Fabrikationsbuch Photooptik II Carl Zeiss Jena also shows 1938. More specifically this is one of a batch of 500, serial numbers 2,424,501 - 2,425,000. Production of this batch started 19 December 1938.

Thanks for the confirmations. I found a less reliable source for confirmation that the shutter serial number was from about the same time as the lens cells. All good, thanks again!
