I found plans for a very nice shutter and exposure meter tester on Github (https://github.com/srozum/film_camera_tester/wiki/Operating-Manual-v2.9).

Works very well. Takes two measurements on the leaf shutter and calculates effective shutter speed and efficiency.

Also can calibrate light meters and test focal plane shutters and EE/Auto 35mm cameras.

Wow! This looks quite comprehensive. I just built a simple laser shutter tester using an arduino and am encountering the limitations--I really like the idea of measuring the shutter speed by exposure. Not sure I totally need a professional shutter tester, but this is a great resource.

It is not clear to me where the plans may be found, how the parts may be acquired or what level of genius is required to D"IY this project.

On Github, the creator has all the info in a folder called "assets"

In that folder one can find all the '.stl' files to send to the 3d printer, all the PCB files to send to the PCB maker and the schematics.
On the Github WIKI (https://github.com/srozum/film_camera_tester/wiki) he has build instructions and a BOM list of all the items that need to be located. Most can be found on AliExpress or ebay.

This setup is nice for large format because it does a good job with leaf shutters and the calibrated light source is nice to get all ones light meters reading the same. The light source goes from ev5 to ev16 and is calibrated for either k12.5 and k14.03

Nice,I use a laser and laser sensor connected to an arduino which seems to work well enough for now

I use the iPhone app with an old iPhone that has a 4 pin female socket

Yes, this is based on Arduino Nano and a laser. It calculates the effective speed and efficiency based on two readings.
