I'll teach ya sumtin. I just asked Chatgpt this: Why do sailors wear big bottom pants: Answer: Sailors have traditionally worn bell-bottom pants because they are practical for life on a ship. The flared shape at the bottom allows them to be easily pulled over boots or shoes, while the wider legs make it easier to move around and perform tasks like climbing up and down ladders or working with ropes. Additionally, the wide shape also helps to catch any water that might splash onto the deck and prevent it from soaking through the fabric and making the wearer uncomfortable.
My old roomate mentioned it acts as a life preserver, you fall in water, and you lift your bottom of pants, catch air, push it down and tie it. Kinda like how your shorts puff up when you jump in.
Bet you didn't expect that in a photo forum!!
