Hi Bernice,

Has a Mapplethorpe feel to it for me.
Never seen this photograph though - will be curious to know who the photographer turns out to be!

It may be Ritts, but to me it looks like Mortensen doing Anne Brigman.

I'm glad to see Ritts referenced the old symbolist uses ala Brigman and White.

I'm also a big fan of his work on music videos such as the stunning B&W Chris Isaak video.

Great observation!
The strong monsterous/dramatic shadows are all Mortensen and some of the modeling of light on shoulders and etc...
