High contrast film for double exposure?

Not sure how to go about doing this. I have a good negative of a thundercloud. I’d like to make a high contrast negative of something in silhouette - a bare tree perhaps. My idea is to print the thundercloud, then switch to the high contrast negative and superimpose that image on the cloud.

It’s been many many years since I worked with ortho film at a offset print shop. Is this the way to go to create the second negative? What brand of film, and how to process it?

I use X-Ray mostly, it's ortho

I also just make 2X on Polaroid/Fuji to tell a story

One way to try would be to use regular film, and variable contrast paper. Make one image on the paper with one VC filter -- and the second exposure on the paper with a #5 filter, or whatever.

There is litho film available (Freestyle) which will do the trick. You might have to make a positive then a negative (which will increase contrast further for you.)

If you make the litho negative the same size as the print, you can just contact print the silhouette over the first exposure of the clouds. This allows you to easily re-touch the positive and/or negative if needed. Have fun!
