Was wondering if there is still any company still manufacturing LF shutters? I was under the impression that they are no longer manufactured but came across a post on another forum that made me wonder if I'm wrong.

Are Copal shutter still being made?

Copal ceased leaf shutter production in 2016.

I have bought many ancient NOS

usually installed inside the old camera

I wood buy new if I had better cash flow!

I prefer NOS from Packard factory for hose, fittings and their very good Bulb!

I use 25 feet of RO plastic hose for operating them, when needed

I should try longer to find the limit

I also instal tiny microswitches for flash bulbs or wireless strobes sync

Years ago I had very weak hands from injury, getting the bulb working helped me rehab

Right after the last WW Burke and James made a series of 3 Rembrandt Portrait cameras.

They had factory OE Packard Shutters with barrel lenses & sync

Depends on how you stretch the definition. Cameras with electronic leaf shutters are still being made for instance. Hasselblad-X system lenses also still use leaf shutters (also likely electronically timed).

Ok. I would refer exclusively to those used on large formta lenses.

Few (if any) lenses for large-format film are still being made. The market for shutters to fit them had been drying up since (at least) the turn of the century. Copal was just the last player standing. So take care of your shutters and keep them in good repair!

Well I know people have taken the internal leaf shutters out of RZ lenses and frankensteined them for Large Format- the threading is often standard on those (Copal #1, #0) etc...

Hmm. I b'lieve that Horseman's Intelligent Shutter System, electronically controlled electric shutters is Compur/Copal sizes 0, 1, and 3, is still available. Very expensive, though, and seems poorly suited to field use.

Those were motorized Copal shutters. Doubt any still exist. Horseman discontinued them when we decided not to distribute them. And that was long, long ago.

At least per the Kenko-PI website, the IS-3 shutter unit is discontinued but the IS-0, IS-1 and control box are still offered:

EDIT: the content of that page is bound to change at some point; here's a link to a Wayback Machine snapshot of what it currently shows:

The irony is that you can often buy an entire used LF lens and simply cannibalize its shutter for less money than buying that same shutter by itself on the used market.

I don't do this

I try to buy the best condition glass AND shutter

However I have many bad shutters from a mass purchase

I now consider those barrel lenses

I do not sell shutters or parts
