I've seen multiple people adapt Hektor 1:2.8 300mm projection lenses for use on 8x10 camera systems, but all of the examples I've been able to find here and elsewhere have been silver (https://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?141108-Hektor-300mm-f2-8), and the one time I found a Hektor with the same black finish and silver housing, it was actually 1:2.5 200mm and adapted for a much smaller system (https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4593741).

This lens has the "correct" 1:2.8 300mm markings, but I've been unable (so far!) to find any confirmation that it is, indeed, the same model as the silver version just with a different finish. Anyone familiar with variations of the 300mm lens? Would this indeed be usable for 8x10 adaptation, or is it possibly an entirely different model that's not suitable for LFP?

Thanks in advance for any insight you might be able to provide.

I once had a very similar optic to yours. The back part of the lens greatly constricted its coverage. I had to have the rear half cut off in order for the optic to cover 8x10. I removed the glass and had a machinist cut off the rear half of the lens (on a lathe I assume). Cost me all of about $35.00 cash.

Interesting! With my overconfidence in making modifications, that doesn't sound too bad. Did your optic have the same black finish?

As I remember the lens was indeed black. Went through some old notes and two manufactures names popped up: DE OUDE DELFT and CHARLES Beseler, but honestly for some reason I don't think that my lens was either one of those.
