I can’t tell if it’s a 1b, 2b or a third?
The glass is in good condition, the flange is missing, and it comes with just one waterhouse stop.
Serial number is 6342

I’m considering buying it.
Thank you!

I know it’s difficult to value something without having it in your hands, but any idea on the price range would be appreciated.

It’s 2B. I believe the forum doesn’t allow valuation.

This is a non-patent version of the 2b. In other words, the same Petzval design that Dallmeyer’s father-in-Law Ross Had been making in the 1850’s. The Patent 2b’s have the Dallmeyer patent rear cell optical design with adjustment possibilities of the last lens.

Value is much the same as other 1/2 plate covering Petzvals - perhaps, with a little (unwaranted) extra because of the Dallmeyer name.

The necessary flange has been lost, I fear!

Thanks! So this lens won’t cover 8x10?

Per Forum guidelines, valuation requests are not allowed. However, help with identification and specifications is fine.

No. It won’t cover 8x10. You should look for 3A or 4B for 8x10.
3B is too close to the subject for the flatter and shallow dof with 3D look and for the comfortable personal distance, imo. But some people use 3B for 8x10 to express the swirly look surrounding the subject.

Sorry about that. I've corrected that now. :)
