Hi,
Some years ago i bought this De Vere 705s enlarger. I had the head machined out so I could fit an 18x18cm glass plate collidion negative into it and print it. Which worked fine.well, apart from the fact that the Lens didn't quite cover the glass plate negative.
Anyway, recently i decided to make some big prints from 4x5 film negatives and 6x6 medium format film and it turns out that you can only make little prints, maximum print from 4x5 neg is 50x40 cm with a Rodagon 210 Lens and 45x55 cm with a Wollensack Raptar 190mm. Medium format I would probably not even get a20x20cm print. So, is this somekind of a copying enlarger? The baseboard does not fold down which would enable larger prints. I thought of cutting off the whole subnmaribe-style turning handles and233147 all the chains that make it work, and to walo mount it. It would be a bit of a shame and i'm not sure all the alignments would work if i did that. What do you think?233146

Pretty sure you would be happier with wall mount

IF it is just like my 504 the base comes off and use short shaft knobs

Where are you?

I'm in Poland. If i get my angle grinder out and start cutting the structure up i am worried i will ruin the way it smoothly glides on the posts.

These handles make these chains233156
Go up and down on these pulleys233157
At the top and bottom of the whole apparatus.

The enlarger is about 8 feet tall. And it can only make little prints? I'm getting something wrong here....

Do you have a 135mm or 150 mm lens for the 4x5 size? An 80mm lens for the 6x6? Might make all the difference?

...or a 120mm WA Rodagon - great lens!

I mounted an 80mm and a 50mm lenses and they don't work. I think this is because it is a 5x7 enlarger with huge condensor lenses. Maybe i need to change them for smaller ones?

Mount any 150mm LF lens and try that

Doesn't have to be an enlarger lens, but must be for 4X5

There's your answer - you need the appropriate condensers, appropriate lens boards (with 5x7's, usually most 80mm+ lenses can go on the flat board - depends on how well the bellows compress - just because the 507 was the successor of the 705/75 doesn't mean that anything is directly comparable - the principle of the drive system isn't that different, but they are radically different machines) and you'll be fine. This is not complicated. Odyssey De Vere might have some things like condensers (the 705 lasted beyond the introduction of the 504 - the 507 was a later introduction) - the flat lens panel is a bakelite slab like most of De Vere's LF cameras and older 8x10 enlargers - the lens turret (which is what yours looks like) lensmounts aren't going to be complicated either.
