Any experience using the Kodak Color Printing Ektar Lenses?

I have the 70mm f4.5, the 87mm f4.5, the 130mm f5.7 and the 157mm f6.3

Use as a macro lens?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I’ve used these mounted to a Supermatic shutter on 4x5 and they’re great. They have a very strong Petzval-like bokeh effect when used the right way. This is a wet plate collodion image made with the 113mm Color Printing Ektar (https://flic.kr/p/2mAxgo8). These are very sharp and contrasty, even wide open. Well worth exploring!

PS: it is my understanding that some of these are Heliar designs.

I think the Color Printing Ektars were made for high-volume "package" printers in commercial photo labs. So basically enlarging lenses. But as paulbarden shows, that doesn't mean you can't use them for something else!

I suspect both the 130 and 157 can be used for 4x5 enlargements.
