I am looking for something that can adequately replace the missing rail brake (not exactly sure what to call it) on my Calumet cc-series cameras. This is the hard plastic part that fits between the lock screw and the camera rail. Any ideas?

There are nylon spacers similar to that in the hardware bins at the big box hardware stores such as Menards, Home Depot and Lowes. Don't know how it is down your way, but here in SW Missouri, Menards has far and away the better selection of small parts such as this.

Thanks Michael. I'll check out the big box hardware stores. Went to our local hardware store but they didn't have anything like this. At least I know what to call it now!

Or, buy the same size rod stock and cut to size. Seems like lots of potential suppliers when googling searched.

Brian, great suggestion. Didn't know what to google for but now I do. I'll follow up on this post once I order some, cut them to fit, and install them.

Ha! I've got these on my L-45A and we call them "way pads." As an alternative/addition I'd thought about incorporating a preload spring-washer into my focus shafts - and may still add these at some point.

It is possible to can make something usable from a large Nylon screw with a file and pocket knife. Nylon screws are available at Lowes, Home Depot, ACE Hardware etc.

seems like you'll find something like that somewhere on the McMaster Carr website, the challenge is where. They have so much interesting stuff. Maybe this might work:
