Hello,

I just bought an 8 x 10 Seneca Camera City View as a project camera,
It has an interesting sliding/ shifting front bed that works very well

As a project camera it will need a new bellows, some repairs here and there and a lens board.
A vintage Seneca catalog lists the lens board size as 5 5/8 x 5 3/4 inches

I wanted to see if anyone could verify that overall measurement and the more
exact measurements for the back of the lens board.

Here are some photos of the camera,

Thanks,
Scott

Fun project!
I have a Seneca Improved Whole Plate camera.
I recommend Ebay seller zbima1 as a source for lens boards, and Custom Bellows for the bellows.
I'd recommend making a mockup of a lensboard with mat board.
Seneca lens boards sort of bayonet in and slide down...a little different from B&J's, etc.
Have fun!

I am looking forward working on this 8 x 10 over the next several months.

Thanks Dugan for the eBay sellers's name. I'll check him out.
Making a mock-up with mat board is a very good idea.

I have a 5 x 7 and whole plate as well and the mounting the lens boards is different
than most vintage cameras. It works okay but I ended up replacing the bottom plate on each
with a more conventional sliding plate to hold the lens board in place. I may end up doing that on
this 8 x 10.

After the lens boards i am looking at replacing the bellows.
I know that Custom Bellows is excellent. I haven't used them in a decade
but it is good to know they are still around.

I'll update on how this project is progressing.

Did you get the very rare "Landing Gear"?

It is a removable folding brace for the extensions

I have 2 Seneca without them, I work around the problem, but I love having all bits

First pic here shows it under the camera
