Never heard of her until this morning on PBS https://www.sallydixonfilm.com/

I recommend watching it, as it shows how 'energy' makes Art

and many paths

I really woke up when she discussed her 1970 Book where to hang...for starving artists

Experimental movies, I made one 24 years ago with 8mm film camera of all the people I would forget from art school

in the 80's I started hanging out with Punk Bands, tried to photograph them, I didn't know how to shoot in the dark with no flash

Thqt scene produced a printed book of where to sleep/crash for free all over USA

That idea was not new, Sally Dixen did it in 1970

Here is 2 from my Punk time

I tried my hand at shooting "rock" artists in 1964. This was way before punk etc. We were a mixture of R&R, blues and some ballads. In those days it was OK to go to a club, like the Marquee in Soho? London, with a camera (at least I was not challenged at door). I had a new Pen F with 100mm lens. I shot at 30th at f3.5 on Tri-X hoping that would give a reasonable exposure. Some shots of Blues great Howling Wolf and a young (19yr) Rod Stewart turned out pretty good. Jump forward to 2019 and I added some Rod's shots to his Facebook group. He said he liked them.

That cement Chicago building had no heat in main room, the 6 beds used small electric heaters

The loft rent parties were actually 2 things. Cram it with hot young people and it warmed up! Beer wristband$

My thing was projecting 16mm sound films for a more sedate crowd, we had a great time until...yuppies

That singer picked me up from a distant bar and invited me to the remote dark, silent loft, the next night

I was a bit frightened, empty streets, open steel door and a long climb up stairs, no sound, no buzzer

I knocked loud and had a wonderful Thanksgiving with people who became good and crazy friends!

I like this one, Randy!
