Congratulations! As I understand from Kerry Thalmann, these convertible Symmars have a bit larger image circle than their Symmar-S counterparts. It was something about the shutters

This lens came in barrel mount as well. Great lens in every way.

Matched Pair Sinar Norma 300mm f5.6 chrome Symmars 5x7 TLR Norma camera great for portraiture. 4x5 Reducing Backs and Reflex Viewfinder make it true TLR. I'm leaving this camera set up in the studio.

Very nice. I'd be interested as to how it works as a 500mm. I tried my non-convertible Schneider lenses as convertibles and the results were horrible.

I as well. I need to get make a lens board for it for my Toyo 8x10. I am saving ip for an 8x10 from Chamonix. I might be able to make it work on my 45H-1
Hi Steven
I hope you have a lot of bellows! when converted to 500mm it will take a bit more than that to focus at infinity..
Have fun!

Ron Wisner once told me to add an orange filter when using the rear cell only. If I remember correctly it reduces chromatic aberrations

I should. My 4x5 wont work at 500 though. 8x10 will
Ron Wisner once told me to add an orange filter when using the rear cell only. If I remember correctly it reduces chromatic aberrations There's also "focus shift" ... sometimes convertible lenses can be sort of tricky.. ic-racer wasn't talking about a convertible lens he said NON convertible lens ..

Excellent, my uneducated guess is that your 500mm lens probably takes around 24-25" ...
it's not found on their new re-designed website but thanks to mr peabody and his pet boy sherman
here's some info on their "vintage" lenses like yours
https://web.archive.org/web/20050303170526/http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/
you can search your serial number to find out the age
you can get tips and tricks old brochures
white papers, optical mechanics. .. lots of fun stuff
not sure if they have these things on their new website. ... couldn't find them..
good luck!
