I've been a Sinar F, C and P user for decades. Looking for a wooden folding field camera which will take Sinar lensboards, or uses a readily available adapter for the Sinar mounted lenses.

Don't know of any wooden cameras, but the Canham JMC810 uses Sinar boards.
And any camera that uses Sinar-size boards or larger can have an adapter made for it.

I just ran across another maker which also seems to use the standard Sinar board. An Italian maker named Stenopeika. Seems like their lightweight cameras are made out of plywood but have no other info on them. My last field camera was a Wisner Technical field I had made in 1988. Sold it some years back. The monorail Sinar is just to cumbersome to be hauling into the field.

My Chamonix 810WWA-c uses Sinar boards and I believe current Chamonix 810 cameras also use Sinar boards.

Off the top of my head:

Currently available new from the manufacturer: current production Canham (earlier took Toyo), Chamonix, Shen Hao.

No longer made, so available only second-hand: Phillips, Tachihara, Wista, Ebony.

I do what i think a lot of people do.

I have Linhof lens board adapters for the Sinar and the 8x10 Shen Hao. Lenses that go back and forth between the systems are mounted to Linhof boards - which seem to be the LF version of 35mm's "M-42 universal screw mount."

K. B. Canham...

or replace Toyo 810M front standard with a Sinar front frame. This has the great benefit of using the Sinar shutter and Sinar related on the Toyo 810M which is a excellent 8x10 field folder.

I believe that Richard Ritter will make you an 8x10 that takes Sinar boards. www.lg4mat.net

It might be possible to manufacture a lens board adapter that would adapt a more standard 6x6 8x10 front-standard (Deardorff etc) to Sinar boards. I could see it being tricky though as a Sinar board is almost 5.5". It might have to be made of metal even if the 8x10 camera is wood.

My Phillips 8x10 folder takes Sinar boards. It's long out of production. But I mostly use a Sinar to Technika adapter board on it for sake of better overall portability.

Bought a Wisner 8x10 Technical Field in 1990, and took delivery after about a year wait. Decent camera, and worked fine with a wife and kids to help tote the 15 lbs Gitzo tripod, a couple of lenses, etc. I am now 61 and reducing my load since the kids are grown and moved out. They made great porters and worked cheap....:). Still have the wife but she's less motivated to do porter work now.

Still have lenses but sold the Wisner to China some years back. Sinars are too cumbersome in the field so I'm looking for a lite weight field camera to use with my smaller lenses (Schneider G-Clarons, etc.).
