It would appear that Epson is still bringing out new products for us film shooters.
Flying thru Orlando on Tuesday I struck up a conversation with a writer from consumer reports. He was returning from the PMA show. He told me about a new scanner from Epson. His understanding was that it is geared towards the professional photographer. He mentioned that it had some new dual lens system that he was impressed with. I asked him the price and he thought it was around $700. I figured he saw some new version of a 4990. I did a search when I got home and found this product announcement for the v-750-m pro scanner. They say the pro model allows wet scanning of up to 4x5, they call it a fluid mount accessory. This report doesn’t say it will scan larger than 4x5 but the guy I spoke with said it will scan up to 8x10 film. They claim 6400dpi and 4.0 d-max.

Of course I just gave my 4990 to my daughter and I bought the microtek 1800f. This Epson is scheduled to come out in May. It will be interesting to see how it actually performs.
