I have been using an Epson V700 Perfection Photo scanner with no issues on an older Imac desktop. Purchased a new Imac with the M1 chip and went onto download the new drivers for the Epson 2 scanner on IOS Monterey Imac. Can go as far as seeing the Preview but will not complete a scan, receive an error message E581 - B319 says "unable to receive data" Any ideas what the fix could be ??

Try removing the driver and then downloading it again. Took me three tries to have my newer MacBook talk to my older Epson 7800 printer... very frustrating experience. An IT friend suggested for me to try this. I have no idea why this worked but am grateful that it did.

Thanks very much, I tried that option yesterday and again this morning after reading your suggestion.

Try plugging your USB cable into a different port.

I have found that some scanners only work with apple's USB-C ports when plugged into a USB hub (with multiple USB-A ports), and do not work with a simple USB-C to A adaptor. I think the scanners are expecting a different controller than what they find onboard the mac.

I concur with using a hub. Last December my retirement gift to me was an M1 Air. It having no USB-A ports, I used the hub that came with my work Dell laptop. The V700 worked straight away, no issues.

I've had no end of grief keeping my GT-X 970 (Japanese model of the V750) operational whenever I've switched computers/upgraded OS's, driver compatibility seems to be an issue. I hit a brick wall with the Epson drivers, for some reason Hamrick's work fine though.

Yes, I just got the right cable and Bingo Epson works on M1 24 using Vuescan I bought years ago

No Hub, direct from V700 A to Mac USB C

Works today!
