I just received a 5108 from Ohio and on getting it in my dark room i discovered that the wire that moves the enlarger head up and down had broken and needs to be replaced. it is a thin braided wire that is located in the upper part of the enlarger and runs around the plastic pully s located there . any one delt with this before and know how to replace or fix this.
thanks

What you are looking for is variously called "aircraft control cable" or "wire rope"

I had the identical issue on my wall-mount 5108, and because of the heavy-duty springs this repair is not that easy. Minimally, you should reach out to KHB and get the manual and proper cable.

It's covered in the instruction manual - KHB or Odyssey Sales (the successor to De Vere) will be able to help. Don't expect it to be a non-messy undertaking.

Have you had any experience with Odyssey, John?

Odyssey are excellent in my experience - I have used them 3 ~ 4 times.
