What the hell does this have to do with LF or even MF?

This should be moved to the Lounge where anyone with HPD can try to gain the attention they desire.

Porno. If that is the case the OP should be banned.

Ha! Clickbait!

Actually (to let myself off the hook:rolleyes:)...this is entirely legit on the Pelican Parts Porsche forum - where it appears as "engine porn."

So, naturally, I'd (correctly) assumed that this thread would allow us to share photos of our very sexy little cameras! Here's one of mine, which I'd unfortunately sold awhile back:

220118

Edit: hmmm...then again - in considering the often horribly abusive industry associated with the word "porn," I guess I am a bit bothered by the use of this word on this forum. Then again, its fun to share photos of our cameras...so maybe we could change this threads title with something else equally catchy while being a bit more politically correct?

Not quite the finest artisanal chocolate, but it was OK.

Ha! Better to make a chocolate mold than to fix that self timer!

Yeah, that's a head-scratcher - either there's a chocolate-modeler out there with a sense of humor, or else the modeler didn't know enough to recognize that the self-timer was cocked or broken on the camera he or she was copying. Or maybe there's some stranger explanation... But at least it was supplied with the accessory shoe, unlike the original!

John Layton
5-Oct-2021, 07:50
Actually I was thinking that the owner of the camera assumed that it was beyond repair (stuck self timer could indicate something serious?) and decided to create a mold of it...perhaps as a "business decision?"

Hmmm...I must have a dozen or so non working/partially working cameras - this could work!!

Here is all I could image. It is called Cold Lite I think it is MF, I forget and it hard for me to get down

I bought it on eBay brand new in worn OE cardboard box, the best thing in the box was a 1950's Montgomery Wards Chicago camera catalog from the same era. Very interesting catalog, lot's of gear

Very odd film carrier and very tiny in size lens, it works!

I figured it out....100 ft of film is 19 36 exposure rolls full frame-you would get 1368 exposures. that ought to keep you busy!

I extensively use the 35mm Leitz enlargers for smaller format work, and the uncut film supports have come in very handy!!!

When shooting/processing bulk film, after drying it gets backrolled onto a spool core and is placed back into the bulk film can with all the other bulk rolls until ready to cut later (it flattens the film nicely during it's time there)... But there has been times a frame needed to be printed sooner, so was able to print off the roll easily... Also had a 35mm SLR camera attachment that projected enlarger to no lens camera for B/W duping neg to positive film in camera that saved my bacon during a 70 roll project for a big AV slide presentation project...

Great enlargers!!! Done properly, enlarger slightly upgraded, and can easily produce almost contact LF quality 11X14's with carefully produced negs, and have done other process work with them... Still doing a lot of high-end 35mm work for urban exploring (on foot), can hand hold, use very long lenses on good compact tripod, and have plenty of film to burn... :-)

That entire Alpa outfit is long gone. Then came Leica, Nikon, Minolta, Contax, settled into Canon FD which has burned un-told thousands upon thousands rolls of 35mm film.

These Canon FD lenses are now used with Canon mirrorless digital. Should make a view camera image of the Canon FD and EOS system at some point.

BTW, best lens in the Alpa system: 100mm & 150mm Kinoptik and the four Angenieux offerings, 24mm & 28mm Retrofocus, 90mm & 180mm Alfitar. These lenses have remarkable personality.

Royer even developed a 6x9 camera with interchangeable lenses, Altessa (not Altissa !):

What makes it special is that the body is the same as the folding camera, only the front is different.
I had a defective folding camera model, so it made sense to build the front plate for other interchangeable lenses: Mamiya Professional

So I built the "Royer-Mamiya". A very practical camera for traveling:

I can only agree with that.
But I live in Switzerland and the Kodak Medalist is an exotic for me. Because I'm tired of the "digital click and everything is done", I enjoy the individuality of old analog cameras. You have to make an effort, think everything over. After all, there are also gnarly characters among people who are nevertheless likeable :-)
I find the story of this camera, the posters as well as advertising for it funny and special.
I make up the 220 film myself by first rewinding a 120 film in a Hasselblad ELM and then manually winding it onto a 220 spool in the darkroom.

I've been working on shooting 70mm film again. Have decided best possible for now is the Graflex RH-50 70mm Film Back, I have two in house. One is now loaded with Kodak 2485 Recording Film (Uber high-speed low light emulsion) Type II perfed. Other RH-50 is loaded with fresh (bought frozen from B&H close-out) Kodak Tri-X Professional 70mm Unperfed. The RH-50 dosent care if it's perfed or unperfed (YAY) and takes standard Kodak 70mm film cartridges, so it's daylight reloadable (YAY). On my hack modded Paterson 70mm film reel I can load eighteen exposures, format is roughly 6x7cm so pretty nice to shoot. It was fun to work all this out. I prefer the Graflex 70mm back over the Beatty Coleman Transet 70mm back, at least for now. I also have a couple of tan Linhof Technika 70mm backs which I will investigate agian soon. The initial loaded test roll of eighteen exposure 2485 Recording Film will be tested at nominal EI 1600 (a total guess) and bracketed in full stops each way. I will process in straight Acufine 800ml in Paterson System 4 single reel tank. Acufine recommended by Bill Pierce decades ago for maximum highlight nuance and detail. This film can be rated up to EI 8000 we will see if developed in Kodak 857 Special Developer. Another plus is that the 70mm RH-50 is listed in the original Makiflex catalog, so somebody was using it :)

Shown is Auto Iris Plaubel Makiflex #2 body with Mamiya RB Stovepipe Hacked Viewfinder, and Auto Iris Schneider 150mm F2.8 Xenotar. Seems like a good lens for low light shooting with high speed film.

Been wanting something lighter recently. Have 50+ Makina 6.5x9 planfilm holders, and about as many RADA glass and film holders. Also have a good supply of 6.5x9 Makina backs in 6x6cm and 6.5x9cm. Many lensboards here Peco Jr which were my mistake, this stuff looks kinda identical some times. I do have a Pecoflex Adapter for my Makiflex Autos, it's identical to the front end of the Peco Jr so I already like the handling. I have most of the original lenses in the catalog, just need more Peco Jr 95x95mm boards to move them around to. Starting with the 47mm chrome Super Angulon, up to the 180mm chrome Symmar. Should be another interesting system which fits in with my other stuff. And I am contemplating a medium format digital back in the far future and this could very well be the ideal platform for it!

My new to me Plaubel Peco Junior arrived from Germany today. Shown with my 210mm f5.6 Symmar lens, will focus close-up with max bellows extension. Amazingly light weight. I love the Reflex Viewfinder, the hood is adjustable side to side. But I don't think it will take film holders in any way. But I have other film backs that will fit, I guess the Reflex Viewfinder works with Makina Rail Backs and Holders, I just rebuilt one yesterday with a nice popup hood.

Looking forward to learnig to efficently use the new camera.

Love this thing- I want one (have 2 of the 4x5 versions), but won’t buy one because I know I would never take it out and make pictures with it. I’ll have to enjoy yours vicariously.

On the left is my Plaubel Makina IIIR, with 100mm F4.2 Rare Orthometar lens (their sharp lens), Makina Hood. Makina Yellow Filter. Also this camera has the Rare Focal Plane Shutter, with speeds to 1/1000 so high speed film can be used under bright conditions. To the right is my new Peco Junior, it's really not any bigger than my Makiflexes. I am delighted. Shown with Peco Jr Bag Bellows, and standard lens, late model 100mm F5.6 Schneider Symmar with Compur Shutter. There's a 6x9cm Makina 120 Back on the camera. Top right is the Magnifier (I think it is Plaubel!) Viewfinder I have tested it with all my Peco Junior lenses from 47mm to 210mm and it's becoming an important accessory. In right front is MX/521 Back for Plaubel Makina Double Rail Backs, I have three of these. A cool pop-up Viewfinder on the back I rebuilt and I also installed a nice fresnel behind the glass. Small and handy, slide the pop-up off, and attach a 6x6 or 6x9 Makina Roll Back.
Finally on the left front is the Standard Bellows, and the three parts (needs final assembly) of the Jim Galvin 120 Back. The board I got from Glenn fits the front of my Pecoflex, but not the Peco Junior. But I have a flat Rear Standard Plate original Peco that will be perfect for finishing this back. I made a spacer plate out of sawn alder wood in my shop, you see that on top. Peco Junior needs new front and back light seals, but in perfect working order. Like the Sinar Norma this camera locks down tight no play at all. And I have a number of original lensboards that need new light trapping.

Some Mamiya 16mm ones. From left to right:
- Mamiya 16
- Mamiya 16 Super
- Mamiya 16 Super Model III
- Mamiya 16 Automatic (metric scale)
- Mamiya 16 Automatic (imperial scale)
- Mamiya 16 Deluxe silver (I have since removed the non-original black covering)
- Mamiya 16 EE

Since that photo was taken I have added the Mamiya 16 Super model II and the Enlahead enlarger adaptor to the collection. I really should try to use them. One of them came with a few rolls of old negatives:

Julius Shulman inspired modified Leitz Tiltall model one, heavy aluminum machined block bolted to center column. Camera locked down with 9/16" closed end wrench. Rock solid light as a feather. Uber solid medium format monorail technical camera. With the Sony E series mirrorless attached to a flat board, I have a "poor man's digital mini-me view camera system". So far I have ten of the original lenses ready to test. Four have been freshly overhauled by Camtronics. The Monocular Viewer swivels left and right to see the groundglass uber clear magnified with fresnel, can easily assess sharpness critically with this setup. This back is matched to original 6x9cm and 6x6cm Plaubel Makina 120 Backs, which I have been using all along in my two Makinas II and IIIR. So rolls get finished up and move around, these are a bit finicky to use, but doable and gets easy to do with time. Also fifty 6x9cm Plaubel Sheet and Glass Plate holders. Add Sony digital and it's pretty versatile for cheap money

The lens is a 135mm f3.8 chrome Schneider Xenar freshly overhauled. Very bright to look through, one of the lenses in the original Plaubel catalog

Plaubel said in the day "The Rolls Royce of Cameras- The Plaubel Makina". That's about right, and the system is extensive. Leica quality MF IMO :)

This is rainy foggy day handheld digital view camera photography. Plaubel Peco Junior with 240mm Schneider black barrel Tele-Arton wide open. Handheld exposure NexC3 Digital Back. I like the bokeh and lower contrast rendering, thanks to the olde Tele-Arton formula. Making up this digital unit enables me to use this lens for the first time :) Lens mounted on 3D printed board from Italy, I added light foam trapping and it works OK

I took my second Peco Junior Rail (It has three attachment points) and precisely cut into two shorter rails, using my Lil' Machine Shop Band Saw. Finished with hand file and two new perfect, Small, and Medium length rails. Very very useful to me. See how teeny tiny the camera is now, with the shorty Sawed-Off Rail. Perfect for use with my 65mm F8 Super Angulon in Compur Shutter, and with Schneider Center Filter For 65mm F8. So Schneider-matched parts. This digiphoto was shot with my other Peco Junior, with a black Schneider Componon 100mm F5.6 Mint condition great standard focal length. Captured onto Sony Nex C3 JB Welded to a Plaubel 120x120mm lens board. Nice lens for this type of use, like the 1970's rendition no multicoating. This digital back for the Peco Junior is going to get a lot of use! :)

Getting there with my set of Fuji GX680 lenses, with Seiko #2 Shutters added. Mounted on PLaubel Peco Junior boards and Minolta SRT cable releases, Yellow Filters on each, and Hoods too. From the left front, the 50mm F5.6, then the 65mm F5.6, then the 80mm F5.6. On the far right front, the 100mm F4. Back Row, from the left, the 125mm F3.2, then the 150mm F5.6. Next the 180mm F3.2, and on the far right, the 210mm F5.6 Also adding the 250mm F5.6, should be tommorrow, got another Seiko Shutter coming. The 50mm front view reminds me of the HAL9000 fisheye in 2001: A Space Odyssey. It looks about the same LOL. Testing phase is coming up. Will utilize them all depending on the situation. I doubt I'll take them out all at once, too much weight! But select two or three depending on what my intended use will be. In the studio I will have the luxury of selecting whichever meets the intended needs of the photograph. So very straightforward. And good to have a choice of focal lengths in the same modern glass. The 50mm and 65mm take a Gel 4x4 Fuji Hood which is cool with me; I have a complete set of 4x4 B&W Gel Wrattens

I want to use this as a "Reporter's Camera" as would be done in the day. Adding the Plaubel Makina Tripod Adapter, gives tremendous stability to the camera, and it lines up perfectly with the Stroboframe Bracket I use for portable flash photography. The thyristor in the 283 makes for auto flash photography with the IIIR. It's a tough brute of a camera, suitable definitely for Press Use, simply by adding the Tripod Adapter.

I used to use these cameras at Events. Now I have rebuilt them, updated somewhat. On the left, 25th Anniversary signed Hasselblad 500C/M, now updated for today, with the CFV16 Hasselblad Digital Back. Introduced in 2007 and produces great results right out of the camera. Super Uber Easy to Use, Very Friendly. On the right is my 500EL/M loaded with 220 B&W Shanghai. Back in the day I would use FUJI EI 800 Color Neg. The EL/M has my new to me 120mm F5.6 S-Planar C T* with Masked Compendium Hood. Noisy but draws attention in a good way. Plan to shoot a few events with these. The camera on the left has the 80mm F2.8 C T* Zeiss Planar. The eyecups came from my Kiev 60 Meter Prisms. Recently I have discovered I have a whole set of Hasselblad Diopter Lenses, to fit the CdS Meter Prisms I own.

25th Anniversary Model 500C/M. Number 0375 of 1500. Engraved by Dr. Hasselblad. At the time Hasselblad USA did not think this was worth any more than a regular 500C/M. They did overhaul the camera for me and it's been very reliable.

Nice Hasselblad shot Daniel.

I Found a 2001 era digital camera at a garage sale. It is a Sony FD Mavica, MVC-FD97. It is a 2.1MP camera. It records to a 3.5 Floppy Disk or a Sony Memory Stick. I didn't have the memory stick but did have some 3.5 floppy disks but no immediate way to read them anymore. Fortunately the camera also has a USB connection where I could transfer the files off the disk. It gets 4 pictures per floppy disk at a max resolution of 1600x1200px.

...somewhere I have a one megapixel Canon (w/batteries, charger, etc.) lying around...their very first digi - was given to me while on assignment in Ethiopia in 1999 to "improve" the logistics of my workflow, but I never used it...favoring (as I do to this day!) my film based Leicas instead. But from what I've read, I do think that Canon might be worth something these days. I'll see if I can find it and post pix of it here.

But Tuco, your images above look very similar to those that I'd have gotten with the first digicam which I'd purchased myself...remember those Nikons that featured the twisting/articulating lens housing? Was called the "N-9000" I think? Also around 2 megapixels? The time period would have been around 2002 or so. Horribly expensive at around a thousand bucks...but actually a very nice camera, features-wise!

QUOTE=tuco;1696444]Nice Hasselblad shot Daniel.

Thanks Tuco! :)

My digital CFV16 back has renewed my interest in Hasselblad. I've wanted this one ever since I saw it back in 2007. Would you believe it was $15,000.00 back then? It was marketed by Hasselblad to the olde mechanical Hasselblad community. No connecting cables!! OMG. Interchanges like a regular film back. Kodachrome-like color 37x37 Imacon chip. Kodak had same chip in the DCS V Back, but it required cables. I am stoked. Shooting a bit of color here and there.

I always thought Sony Mavicas looked cool back in the day.

My 150mm F9 Rodenstock Apo-Ronar, for the Plaubel Peco Junior view camera, with custom made by me, Jim Galvin Back, that takes Wind Knob Graphic Backs, very quick to operate and modern reliable. An Ednalite Magnifier, and also my olde Printer's Loupe, hang off the camera. Both loupes are great for inspecting the image uber sharp. I just got a series 5 Hood and Medium Yellow Filter for this lens, this completes the lens. It's mounted on a 3D printed board from Italy, light trapped by me with adhesive foam and ready to roll. Fred Newmans Light Hood is what I use in leiu of focusing cloth, it's more comfortable to me, as well as being fully light tight, for extended viewing. I love Apo Ronars, this is the tiniest one. In fact I like it so much I have three of them, two iin barrel $50 each. So same lens for different cameras, best of the best. WOW, this is my childhood. My Dad had that projector, shot nothing but Kodachrome, I still have all the slides, he shot an Argus of some sort. Images are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!

Very good! Reminds me of found glass slide of NYC I posted long ago. Horse and buggy and lots of wires

Thanks. It looks like the horsepower has increased since then.

Thanks. This was my father's camera and his slides too. I'd give the camera a try but it needs a CLA. The shutter is gummy and slow.

The photo on the Spotmatic manual is, close enough, a 1:1 of the camera's physical size.

One is mint and working

other has bad shutter and marks on GG from DDS usage

Both heavy leather hand strap

Sturdy

Just unboxed from 11 years ago

The working one has 4 ways to frame

Focus Spot I will modify for Night and Day

I have flash handle and plenty of flashbulbs

I like 2X3 sheet format, it is a bit wider

One of my favorite "tiny cameras"

The old yet mighty GF1 w/ 14mm pancake - somewhat pocketable and takes great pics :

I have a PentaxQ which is probably my smallest camera - but I don't use it as much since I bought the GF1.

Film wise I have a couple Minolta Hi-Matics that I really enjoy using.

I have a couple GF1s bought used years ago. They are very capable cameras that punch above their weight :)
