I have "been away" from the forum for a while. I see some changes, mostly very good changes. Anyway, I have come to a point where I must downsize. Much of what I have to get rid of is large.Big enlargers, wooden cameras and stands, etc. My question is, what is my best way of getting this stuff to a purchaser? Local pick up only seems to limit my market. What have any of you done in the past? If this topic has been covered in the past, direction to that thread is appreciated.

Google "heavy shippers" and the name of your city or state. Worked for me when I had to ship a Seal dry mounting press. The only catch was that I had to build a wooden crate on a pallet to ship it in.

Constructed it from several pallets that I easily got for free.

There used to bee a site where you could get bids from different freight/trucking companies...I don't know if it's around anymore. As well as one that allowed you to get on an already scheduled truck to your destination. I used it once to ship a 4'x8' piece of artwork across the country. Big, not heavy. Much cheaper than ground FedEx or UPS.

Some great options here, definitely taking notes for the future.

If you are looking for a local sale, Craigslist et al have been pretty much completely eclipsed by Facebook Marketplace. Might be worth advertising there first.

I've heard good things about Fastenal. They'll ship from store to store anywhere in the country at a good rate.
As with any shipper, make sure everything is well-packed and pray for a good result.
