Durst CLS 1840 color head questions

so I've got a CLS 1840 head for replacing the condensor head on my L184 enlarger.
the head is complete with 4 mixing boxes for all the formats from 6x9 to 8x10".
it is now in storage far from home, so I cannot play with it.
I have a couple questions about it:

- the head came with just the EST1000N power supply and the big cable going from it to the head. will this be enough to run it or do I need other parts? in this diagram I see at least two other parts (power unit and ECU 1000) which I don't have. I was told these are meant to be used on the 1840 enlarger only which is motorized.

-do I simply attach the EST1000N to my timer this way?
wall outlet -> timer -> EST1000N -> head
how is the timer interacting with the built-in shutter of the head?

-will I need some adapter or additional light trap to have the head sit properly on the enlarger? I see the CLS2000 was sold with a "Colidap" adapter for this purpose.

would be grateful to anyone sharing some expertise/manual here.

this is the rear of the EST1000N unit, with both a power input and a timer input. not sure where to hook up my timer

Yes, plug your timer into the timer socket. It will accept 120 to 220v and activate the head. Whatever timer you plug in there is electrically and or optically isolated from the EST1000 and only serves as a trigger. So, almost no current will go through the timer; you can use just about any timer; the timer does not have to be rated at 1000W.

I'll see what manuals I have in terms of adapting the CLS1840 to your L184. It should bolt right on, but yes, there might be an issue with having the correct negative carrier.

Again, this is from the CLS2000 book, but I think the CLS1840 mounts to your enlarger the same way.

Yes, power the EST1000 with 220 or 240V. That supply will need to be rated at least 1000W. When you plug the EST1000 to the wall and turn it on, the 1000W lamp will not go on until there is 120 to 240V sensed at the timer input. So you do need to have a powered timer plugged into it to test it to see if it all works.

So do NOT plug the EST1000 into a timer, because it has to be powered up all the time when in use. Don't forget to turn it off or un-plug it at the end of the day.

does anyone have a picture and measurements of the dichroic filters inside the CLS1840? thanks

I have not measured mine. Do you have a broken filter?

I resisted the urge to open mine up any more than needed for the electrical repairs. Since the filters are mirrors, I treat them like 35mm SLR mirrors...don't touch unless absolutely necessary!

is it safe to move the head (3 hours drive) without removing the filters? It will be in the trunk, no room for any movement, still it's a long drive

I did not even remove the lamp or the reflector. It traveled fine in the back of my station wagon (estate) for 5 hours and 300 miles.
