I’ve recently acquired the Plasticca 450mm F3.5 version.
i was surprised the lens size isn’t large enough considering it’s focal length and f-number.
Do any of you guys have either 450mm F3.5 or F4 verisons and check the dimensions?

I thought the size should rather be 450mm/3.5=128.5mm but the actual lens diameter is about 96mm and there is a black inner rim as shown in the second picture, whose hole diameter is 87.7mm. these numbers show the f-numbers are 4.6 and 5.1 each.

How about is yours?

I saw a related thread of Steven’s here.

It would be fun if you could show comparative shot of this besides those from a Canon 500D +2 diopter. I don't have bigger than 77mm -that would be opening of ca 75mm and aperture around f6.6

When trying to decide on the actual max opening you could take a picture with a camera and compare with lens you know the aperture of.

Annoying as a "wrong" aperture is, it is what you got and use it.

The focal length is crucial in determining aperture.

Thanks Jim and Oslolens for your inputs.
I will try focusing and compare with another lens after I make the custom flange for this lens.

Just for the sake of comparison, here are the corresponding data for the tiny 200mm Plasticca!

Focal length 200cm.
Max aperture 40mm /F4.5 (engraved)

Realistic max. Aperture is F5 - and, of course, there is the built-in pale yellow filter as the rear cell!
Obviously, the engraved aperture is very optimistic!
