The huge Hallmark Photography Collection, made up of 6,500 images worth an est $65 million, goes to Kansas City.

so, is this the end of the hallmark collection, or are they going to start over? i couldn't tell from the article.

The entire collection stay intact and will be housed in the Nelson Atkins Gallery in Kansas City.

It would seem illogical to transfer one of the world's great collections to a public institution for nominal sum and then start over collecting the same items again. It is likely Hallmark will set forth on another collection of whatever the Halls believe should be catalogued. On the other hand, the Nelson has continued to expand its photography collection over the years. I suspect it may need some time to digest what it now has before it embarks on a new buying stint.
