I wanted to mount a lens from a DB mount into a Copal 0 shutter. When I did this, I noticed that the front element didn't screw very far into the shutter. When I examined more closely, the Copal 0 shutter from a 150mm G-Claron has a beveled ridge on the face of the shutter that can keep a lens from screwing as far into the shutter as a flat-faced version of the shutter. (My 90mm 6/8 Grandagon is in a flat-faced shutter, as is my Fuji 125W). I didn't know there were differences, and this is something to look for if you're re-mounting a lens in a Copal 0 shutter

If it's a later Copal shutter, the rim around the lens mount threads MAY be a removable plastic trim ring. I have seen this on late Copal #1 shutters.

Thanks, Tracy. I'll check.

I think Tracy is right, isn't that a removeable plastic ring? Used to fill in a gap when the front element is relatively small?

Yep. That inner ring can be removed. (not the one that say: "Copal 0")

I assume one can remove it by spinning it counter clockwise? I don't see a set screw.

It's not threaded, just get something like a popsicle stick and pry it out. You MIGHT even be able to pop it out by getting your fingernail under it.... (you could use a screwdriver, but you don't want to scartch anything. And DON'T slip and poke out the shutter blades !)
Attached photo of similar plastic ring and the Copal 1 it came off of.

That's very helpful, Tracy. I was able to get it off. Thanks!
